The cats of SilentClan were perfectly content to live out their lives in relative isolation from other Clans or groups. They lived as a separate, single entity, and they were happy that way. They were a happy & healthy bunch, and relatively hard to sway. Every winter was harsh for them, as their habitat was the northern Canadian tundra, & yet this winter was different. Something was amiss. The bitter winds sweeping in from the north smelled of death, and it was no coincidence that soon after those first winds swept through,
S O M E T H I N G C H A N G E D.
Something blew through that winter - something that darkened the hearts and minds of the cats of SilentClan, something sinister that changed their outlook on their once happy and content lives. They became ambitious, intraClan fights began to broke out, and many of the weaker cats died out of sheer refusal to battle it out with their Clanmates. SilentClan, in short, began to fall apart.
T I M E W E N T O N . . .
& the cats of SilentClan began to recover from their sinister affliction. Many seemed to just snap out of it, as if it was just a passing phase, or they had simply been in a bad mood - a few, however, didn't snap out of it. They remained cynical and angry, and, slowly but surely, the Clan realized that they needed to expell the infection, or they would all suffer.
And so, three cats were expelled from SilentClan that new-leaf - their deputy, their medicine cat apprentice, and one warrior. They never heard from them again, and they thought they had returned to their state of relative peace...
